An early summer wedding at Black Forest by Wedgewood for Savannah and John was intimate, relaxed, and lovely. They opted for the complete package, which includes up to 6 hours of photography coverage since they were planning a short evening wedding and reception. Coverage included just a few getting ready photos, the ceremony, family portraits, bride and groom portraits, and reception speeches and dancing. I had a wonderful time getting to know these two and their close family and friends as I was present to photograph each important moment.

One conversation I had was with John’s mom. She told me that John had dated a few other girls before Savannah and each one she had her reservations about but didn’t say much to him about them, “because that’s his choice.” But when John and Savannah started dating she knew right away that she was the right woman for him. It was clear throughout their wedding that they are so comfortable in each other’s presence. Their love is pure and strong. They kept their wedding plans simple and elegant so as not to distract from the purpose of the day: celebrating their marriage with close family and friends.

Savannah’s aunt officiated the ceremony and was the most sweetly tearful officiant I’ve ever witnessed. The ceremony was filled with tender moments of love and joy.

I was able to snag a few photos of details from the reception set up. I loved their cake topper!

Immediately following the ceremony, we took some family photos and then walked into the woods on the property for some couple portraits.

We snuck outside after dinner for a few golden hour portraits, because in my experience, it’s always a good idea to get more bride and groom portraits! It’s a great opportunity for the couple to get away from the reception and spend some much needed time together too.

The reception included just a couple toasts, a s’mores bar, cake cutting, and dancing. Everyone had a great time and Savannah and John were beaming!

I’ve photographed multiple weddings at Black Forest by Wedgewood, and it’s such a great venue for a wedding close to Colorado Springs. If you’d like to hear more about my photography approach, inquire on my website today.
