The biggest wedding photos regret married couples have

What do you think is the biggest wedding photos regret that married couples have? Is it that they hired someone who wasn’t professional? That they didn’t get enough photos of their guests? That no one told the bride her hair was in her face? In conversations I’ve had with married friends about their wedding photography, there is a one thing that comes up often when I ask what they regret most about their wedding photos. And it’s this: they didn’t get enough photographs of just the two of them.

A wedding day is full of activity, moving from thing to thing, and couples often feel pressed for time. They create their own timeline without consulting with the photographer. Often, they forget to budget in time for portraits of the two of them. The photographer captures the family photos, the bridal party photos, and a few quick ones of bride and groom. In these quick photos, the couple look stiff or overly-posed and they don’t love them.

How to avoid this common wedding photos regret

To avoid this regret, I always recommend budgeting 45 minutes to 1 hour of bride and groom photos. You can do these either before or after the ceremony, depending on whether you’re doing a first look. I encourage you to think about this time as a time to be together on a busy day filled with time with family and friends. This is a time to step back, breathe a little, enjoy each other’s company while I capture some beautiful images for you.

Are you tired of posing for photos? I can let you take the lead and snap some candids while you relax with other another. We can start with some of those classic portraits and then move into more documentary-style photos as you two forget about the camera and just enjoy the amazing feeling of starting your marriage. The photos we get during this time will be the ones you return to again and again to remember what it felt like to be together on your wedding day. PURE JOY!
